1411-3 flush trimmer problem
Discussion Icon by Tim Kulin at 24.01.2012 15:15

The bottom flush trimming unit on our machine is cutting too deep only at the beginning of the cut. If it is adjusted to trim flush in the middle of the board, it cuts too deep for the first 1/2" (12mm) or so.

We have the unit adjusted so it moves the recommended 2mm or less in both the vertical and horizontal directions. We are running the radius cutters at this time because this is what was installed in the machine when we bought it. We have straight cutters and could change if that could somehow help.

I see the lower motor is held up by a a spring. The spring does not appear to be adjustable. I have considered hanging a weight on the motor to reduce the force it applies to the board, just to test if reducing the force might solve the problem.

I had to adjust the chamfer stop up (the rear of the motor higher) to keep the radius cutter from scoring the panel when it was adjusted to cut flush. Maybe this is a clue?

Any help would be appreciated!

Tim

Hello Tim
Can you tell us the type of the milling-tool (probably 1942) and the serial number from machine?
It's better for us, to give you the right information’s.
The force of the spring should have about 6N. The 2 mm distance is normally correct.
Maybe you have collision between extraction hood and work piece?

We have a factory service guy who is local. He thinks the shoe is bent. We've scheduled him to come and replace it and also give us some training. I think this is the problem, and I think he will get it fixed.

Thanks for the response.
